DIGITISING WASTE COLLECTION IN GHANA; THE HALLMARK OF THE 1MB PROJECT
The 1 Million Waste-bins project is characterised by the Integrated Waste Management Information System (IWMIS), a system developed by a wholly owned Ghanaian company to help waste management service providers improve their service delivery by providing real-time monitoring of their field activities.
The IWMIS runs on various modules and tools that allow waste management companies to build and maintain a strong database of clients which is the fundamental tool needed for the provision of effective service delivery through optimised operations and efficient revenue collection.
THE TECHNOLOGY
Our RFID Tagged Waste-bins
What is the RFID Tag?
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is the technology used to record the presence of the waste-bins using radio signals. The techonlogy relys on a tag. These are small transponders located on our bins that transmit identity information over a short distance when triggered by a reader/scanner. The RFID tag enables us to automatically identify and track our waste-bins and monitor the performance of our operations.
The RFID tag application forms the foundation of the elements of the Intergrated Waste Management Information System (IWMIS); the main driver of the 1 Million Waste-Bins Distribution Project (1MB Project).
